Simple Woman's Daybook For Friday

My own version of the Simple Woman's Daybook for today:

Outside my window...it's HOT.  Temps are supposed to reach triple-digits for the second day in a row.  Our area really needs rain.

I am thinking...about our son who is in Colorado for a church youth conference.  He's 18 and this is a good practice for me to get used to letting go.  I really had to be careful to not hover as he was packing for the trip and preparing for his first plane ride.  He didn't want mommy to remind him to take enough underwear, etc.!

I am thankful for...air conditioning.  Such a blessing in this heat.

From the kitchen...the oven is getting a break because I refuse to bake anything this week.

I am creating...cards...again.  Can't help myself.

I am reading...nothing.  I know, shocking, isn't it?  I did a lot of reading last week but this week I don't have any pending reviews to do and haven't visited the library (something I may do yet today).  More books are on the way from various publishers so next week I'll have a stash back again.

Around the house...things are considerably less cluttered with dear son away.

One of my favorite things...Muenster cheese.  The local bulk foods store had it on sale this week and I made the mistake of getting some.  Fortunately, I didn't get a lot but still, I knew I was in trouble as soon as I saw the special of the day sign.  I'm so weak! lol

A Simple Grace Note: God said no to a job Brad applied for.  Even though it seemed a perfect fit for him, we know the Lord always has our best interest at heart and protects us from situations that aren't good even if we don't see why at the time.  I'm choosing to embrace that grace note and continue to be grateful that Brad still has a job, as discouraging as it has been.  God's timing and plan are always perfect and that's what we hang on to despite the disappointment.

My simple devotion:  Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6

This scripture sums up what my mindset needs to be every single day and remains the one I cling to when life gets hard.

  2. It is HOT outside my window too. It is hard to believe your son is 18 already...wow. I am glad you are doing your cards again. I always enjoyed getting one from you (hint hint):) I agree that Gods planning is perfect and I feel just the right job is in his near future. I do know it is not easy to wait...Proverbs 3-5,6 is very encouraging to read.He WILL make your path straight.

  3. Oh isn't that sometimes the hardest part...lean not on our own understanding???

Oh give me a hotel any day...but that means I would have the money or not go...so off we went camping...and we sweated, but it was worth it...compromise, yes, the name of the game in this season of life...A/C yes so thankful with these high temps

So sorry about the job...been there and praying for one ourselves...again, not on my own understanding

  4. It's a peek into your life. Love the sharing. Sorry to share that it was a bit hot today in our gorgeous Oregon, but still not hot enough to turn on our AC.

You are so so sweet and I so appreciate your kindness and encouragement.
