Simple Devotion

Dear Lord,

I bring you my shortcomings...
because Your Word says that in my weakness you are strong. Some days all I see are my flaws but when I look closer, I see that they are by your design and behind each one is a strength waiting to develop as I surrender them to you.

I bring you my worship and praise...
because Your Word says you inhabit the praise of your people and when I worship You, I feel your presence.

Today I praise your names:

Jehovah Jireh, because you are the Lord who provides.
Jehovah Rophe, because you are the Lord who heals.
Sar Shalom (Prince of Peace) because you are the source of peace, well-being, and completeness.
my Shepherd because you protect and guide me.
El-Roi, because you are the God who sees me when I feel invisible and insignificant.
Yahweh Tsebaoth (Lord of Hosts), because you are ruler over everything - both living and non-living, here on earth and in heaven.  All creation is at your disposal on my behalf to accomplish your will in my life.

I bring you my prayer...
because Your Word says to tell you what I need so that I'm not anxious about anything. Help me take my anxious thoughts captive and leave them with you, knowing that nothing is happening that isn't passing through your hands first. I don't need to fear tomorrow because you are already there.

You spoke to me...
"I have loved you with an everlasting love."
Jeremiah 31:3
"The eternal God is a dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms."
Deuteronomy 33:27
"The LORD will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O LORD, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands."
Psalm 138:8

  2. That really is beautiful, Cindy. I've recently heard someone say, "My goal for my quiet times isn't devotions, it's devotion." You've given life to that idea.
