My own version of the Simple Woman's Daybook for today:
Outside my window...there are lots of birds at the birdfeeder and it's noisy!
I am thinking...about Christmas and whether I'll do much decorating or not.
I am thankful for...a house that has stayed surprisingly clean since Thanksgiving.
From the kitchen...a casserole for dinner is prepared and ready to pop in the oven later.
I am creating...Christmas packages to mail out next week.
I am reading...The Hole in our Holiness by Kevin DeYoung.
Around the house...are signs of someone thinking about college. There are a few applications waiting to be filled out, notes about financial aid, a reminder to add college codes to Nate's ACT test registration, etc.
On my MP3 player this week...The soundtrack to Les Miserables.
One of my favorite things...homemade mocha latte. I indulge in one cup each morning, a healthier version of the commercial or coffee shop kind.
One of my least favorite things...more and more, it is television.
Something you don't know about me...my first major in college was psychology before switching to journalism. I thought I wanted to go into counseling but discovered I probably didn't have the patience for it.
A Simple Grace Note: We brought my mother in law's Schwinn Air Dyne exercise bike to our house so our daughter can use it as part of her physical therapy for her injured knee (no room for it in her apartment). I tried it and discovered it is also helping my knees (arthritis) and doesn't hurt them and my feet like doing the treadmill does. Looks like I'll be keeping it after Caitlin is done with it.
My simple devotion: "There is a gap between our love for the gospel and our love for godliness. This must change. It’s not pietism, legalism, or fundamentalism to take holiness seriously. It’s the way of all those who have been called to a holy calling by a holy God." - From The Hole in our Holiness by Kevin DeYoung
