Attack on Democracy

“A healthy democracy thrives on passionate debate. But dangerous levels of political extremism are poisoning our politics, eroding trust, paralyzing progress and as we are currently witnessing...attacking First Amendment Rights.

“Extremism elevates ideology over truth; silences speech it disagrees with. It encourages leaders to ignore facts and instead chase raw power at any cost. When extremists turn neighbors into enemies, they create openings for bad actors—foreign and domestic—to exploit fear, deepen chaos, and weaken our institutions.

“This isn’t about partisan politics—it’s about defending democracy itself. The more politics becomes a contest of purity tests and absolutism, the less room there is for common-sense solutions that help everyday Americans.”

Let’s be clear: an attack on one person’s First Amendment rights is an attack on everyone’s. That’s how authoritarianism spreads—by silencing dissent, intimidating critics, and convincing people to sit quietly on the sidelines.”

- Adam Kinzinger, former Republican Congressman (2011-2023)
