The Work of the Holy Spirit: Fruit

“There is something rather interesting about the way the Apostle Paul describes the work of the Holy Spirit in a believer's life. When he gets to Galatians 5, he doesn't give us a list of impressive religious accomplishments, extraordinary supernatural experiences, or qualifications that would make someone look particularly spiritual at church. Instead, he talks about fruit. Which seems like a remarkably ordinary illustration for something as extraordinary as the transforming work of God. But there's a tremendous amount of theology packed into that one little word.

Paul writes, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23).
Nine qualities. One fruit.”
