Submitting Self to God

"Submitting self to God is the only real freedom - because the deepest slavery is self-dependence, self-reliance.  When you live your life believing that everything (family, finances, relationships, career) depends primarily on you, you're enslaved to your strenghs and weaknesses.  You're trying to be your own savior.  Freedom comes when we start trusting in God's abilities and wisdom instead of our own.  Real life begins when we transfer our trust from our own efforts to the efforts of Christ." - Surprised by Grace: God's Relentless Pursuit of Rebels by Tullian Tchividjian

  3. Yes, so, so true...and how do you know if you are totally submitted to God...just have those things taken from you and you see. It is easy to say you are until you really have to be.
Great post and thoughts for me today.

  5. I have to agree with Janette. How
do you know you are until it gets
right down to it?! Anyway I love
these thoughts and this really is
    the only true freedom.

  6. Yes! ITA. 6 years ago I got very sick, hospitalized, and almost passed away. That changed my life forever. I learned then to COMPLETELY trust God, completely submit.

  7. If ever there was a freedom snatcher, it's "self". No wonder we're to count the cost. Self simply insists on ruling. Even so, that part of me that clamors is made quiet & joyful when it simmers down & surrender. Love that word: surrender.

    Great post!

  8. God's doing a work on me this morning. That is so true, and even though I know it, I still cling to myself, and my ways a little bit. I'm really not submitting at all when I do that, am I? I need to trust Him more, and rely on me less.
